Strange question about dealer
I am having a long crank issue still. I am not sure what the deal is, it doesn't matter if the truck is warm or not and it is hit or miss as to whether it cranks long or short. Shortest crank time is about 2 sec longest was about 6-7sec.
I still have warranty so should I just take it into the dealer and have them deal with it? I have not had much dealings with dealers and they make me nervous. I am the second owner of this truck and according to the original owner it is stock as far as drivetrain and programing are concerned. I know it is a silly question but I normally do all my own work on my vehicles but the cost of parts alone I think justifies taking it to the dealer. Looking for any advice on the matter, also if anyone in Kitsap County area of Washington state can recommend a good Ford dealer I would appreciate it. Thanks Dik |

If you have a warranty, take it to a Ford dealer that has a few powerstrokes sitting out back waiting to get into the service area. Look around until you find the right one.

Sounds like the typical high pressure oil system problem. Probably going to be standpipes or dummy plugs in the oil rail. Make sure the oil filter cap is Ford. That can cause oil pressure issues too, on the low pressure oil side.

It is all Ford stuff. This engine is bone stock. I did not check to see if the filter is motorcraft or not I know that can cause problems with oiling too. I want to change to a full synthetic 5W-40 also.

Cranked it to leave work today and it did not crank as long as it did this morning but it was kind of a rolling start. I think I just need to break down and take it in.
One other question will they flash the PCM even if that is not the problem? My mileage is pretty good on the highway and about 13 around town if I keep my foot out of it. I don't want them to flash it and have it go to poop. Dik |

You could just tell the "service advisor" that you do not want them to flash it.
