Nissan UD Long Life Coolant OK to use?

I'm having a difficult time finding non-premixed ELC coolant in stock. I've managed to find Nissan UD 'long life' coolant in stock but I can't determine whether it meets the CAT EC-1 spec. I do know that its specifically formulated for diesels, is ethylene glycol based and does not contain silicates or borates. Is this ok to run?

If it doesn't say Cat EC-1 on it, I wouldn't risk it. It should be written on the bottle somewhere pretty evident if it was. You can get the Zerex EC-1 rated stuff from NAPA, online if there's none around you. The part # is ZXED1.

If you're going to order something, and wait for it to be delivered to your local parts store.. why not just order exactly what you want from the internet, instead of just settling for what the store can get?

I understand going into a store, and just buying what they have because you need it immediately, but I've seen people debate about whether to buy and settle for something locally for over a week, where, if they just ordered it online, it would have been at their house by then.

I ordered my NPG+ coolant. Took 4 days to get here. It's exactly what I wanted, and I got it as fast as any other place could get it.

If they don't have exactly what you want locally, and you don't need it _that second_, just order it online. It'll be there in 3-5 business days!

Napa Zerex ELC concentrate. Part# ZXED1. If it isn't on the shelf they can have it the next day. This isn't that hard.

PGreenSVT,

Yeah, it shouldn't be that hard but unfortunately it was... I tried my local Oreilly's, Autozone and Carquest, all which looked at me like I was crazy. I located the Nissan UD coolant MSDS and called the manufacture to see whether on not the coolant met the Cat EC-1 rating. All three people I talked to were clueless. I then located a truck repair shop which claimed to sell EC-1 rated coolant. I got there and quickly realized it wasn't. They referred me to the Freightliner shop down the street. Called them and again was told they have EC-1 coolant. Drove there, strike 6. Called a Napa distribution warehouse that specializes in diesel's and was finally able to find the Zerex EC-1. Definitely a wild goose chase but I finally found what I was looking for!
