fuel gauge not working

I was going down the freeway yesterday and my fuel guage was at 1/2 tank when it started to climb to full and has stayed there since. I checked some of the fuses and unhooked the batteries. I was wundering where to go from here. It is an 04, so any suggestions would be apprciated.

Your in the wrong posting. This is for 6.4L's. But i can tell you to take it to the dealer & have them try to reprogram the instrument cluster first. I had one awhile back w/ the same concern & reprogramming it fixed it. If that does'nt do it then the fuel sender could be defective not reading correctly. Try posting this again in the 6.0L forums.

Mine had a similiar problem and needed a sending unit, but i read Marc said that if you go to a chevron station and use their techron additive it might fix the problem, not sure if it relates to your problem, but it is worth a try. I also saw that Ford had a tsb on this.
