Mine is hanging from the hook. Well, I got some longer screws to go through the CB bracket into and through the trash hook mounting.

I don't have a pic, however I did mount my radio off that useless hook.

It was the only piece of the dash I was willing to bore into, I screwed the bracket straight into the hook. Radio is centered on the hook, and if I did it again I'd offset t a bit toward the driver's side. Wired up the CB and it works fine for me as is though.

I have mine off-set like you mentioned, make the mic easy accessible.
