Rotella Synthetic
Just a quick question guys. What is it about Rotella synthetic that is so bad? I have seen in multiple posts people saying not to use it. Just looking for a little clarification on why. Thanks.

I know I am not crazy. I remember reading it multiple times, but no one ever said why...

I don't know if it effects the 7.3 any differently, but I've used it exclusively for 2+ years now and I have no complaints.

i figure it is $18 a gallon and better than Dino. All good for me! I am using Amsoil next because I found out my neighbor is a dealer and everyone loves it. I will see if my big girl with the 6.0 will too. Then I will see what blackstone says. But, I only have 100 miles on this oil change so I will let you know in about 5,000 miles!

Yeah, nothing is wrong with Rotella... was it an AMZOIL rep who was saying this?
![]() For real though, I run a 7.3 and send in my stuff to blackstone and they say it's in fine shape, and that I could run it longer. I change mine at 5k, they suggested 7,500. Oil related failure is rare with modern lubricants. I love rotella, it's inexpensive, quiet and smooth, and keeps things clean in the engine. Enjoy! Scott |

Ok cool. It could have been an Amsoil rep...haha. I am switching to synthetic, and I want to run something that is readily available. I hate having to order things as vital as oil in the event of an emergency or something. What weight do you suggest for the Northern IL climate?
