New/used truck suggestions on what to do

New owner to a 2005 f250 fx4 6.0l powerstroke with about 171 on the odo, i have no records of any kind for the truck it was a repo truck from floridia.
What are the first things i should check/replace to make this thing practiclly indestructble for work and weekend play (i.e hauling the toys around)?
Any kind of info would be help full. My first diesel truck and im loving it!

Gauges, gauges, gauges.

Change all your fluids, get it on track fluid wise.

Keep up maintenance.

eot ect are the two main u want to watch , then trans temp egts boost so on an so forth but you should look into the edge insight

As mentioned; definitely get the fluids and filters changed before anything else.

Add all of this to your to-do list:

Air Filter FA1778
Oil Change w/ Motorcraft FD-2016 filter
Fuel Filters FD-4616
Trans fluid change (Mercron LV) & both filters (FT-144 and FT-145)
Transfer case (3qts of Mercon ATF)
Both differentials
The switch to an ELC coolant is a MUST - Do your homework before doing it and understand fully what is involved and what else to look for.

This will cost a pretty penny even if you do all this yourself, but it's well worth it if you've got no records from the previous owner. Diesels may have a reputation for "going forever", but when they break you'll spend a lot more on repairs than you would a gas powered truck!

Also, gauges for sure - You can get a monitor type if you want or just some analog gauges, but in the 6.0s you definitely want to watch:

Engine Coolant Temp
Engine Oil Temp
EGTs
Fuel Pressure

Trans Temp if you're towing with it
