Transmission shifting when cold......
I'm just curious how YOUR 5R110 shifts when it's cold (say <100*). It seem like mine is reluctant to shift out of 1 and 2 when until its warmed up. I sometimes have to lift off the throttle to get it to shift (just driving normally).
Just curious. |

i have the same thing, the easier you go on it the longer it waits to shift it seems like. mine only does it when its real cold out, spring summer and fall i usually never have the problem unless it gets low at night. but thats why in the winter i let my truck run about 10 min or more before i leave

I'm seeing about the same with my '05. first run of the morning 1-2 and 2-3 shift pretty hard and seem to drag out. After mine cycles throught the gears it ususally does great after that. I am also running the old Hyb.Race spartan tune (+170hp I think) had to go back and soften the shifts on the SCT to reduce the potental whip-lash/loss of fillings caused by those 2 shift points anyway.

i run the ol hybrid race tune as a daily to. it shifts hard while the trans is warming up. say under that 100. then its great.

Yeah, once it warms up its great. Better MPG's and neck snapp'n throttle responce.

I tried Spartan's tune and they made my trans shift so bad I dumped them in a hurry. If you want to try something to help Redline's D6 have the best cold flow properties and the reports I've seen on it said that it really improved the cold behavior of the trans.
