History: My 2004 F350 SDCC 4X4 was without gauges, so I installed an Edge Insight and EGT thermocouple last Fall. I began monitoring EGT, Boost, IAT, ECT, Trans Temp and EOT. Because my EOT was running 20 - 30 degrees F above my ECT empty @ 70 MPH on level ground in Winter I went ahead with a coolant flush, treated with Restore and replaced the coolant with ELC (RPM Delo Brand). That didn't bring the EOT down, so I went ahead with an EGR delete and installed a new stock engine oil cooler. In addition, I added a bypass coolant filter and am working on adding a bypass engine oil filter. All pretty straight forward up to this point. I started throwing a code for low EGR Flow - fairly common and easy to clear with the Edge Insight.
I wanted to see if I could improve mileage and performance, so I recently (April 22) I purchased an SCT SF3 from MKM Customs (Sinister Manufacturing) which included three custom tunes written by Michael Penfield. While waiting for the custom tunes (Economy, Towing and Street) I tried one of the standard tunes (Street). While it worked fine, the Edge Insight wouldn't display four of my six engine/trans criticals. Boost, IAT, trans Temp and EOT were replaced by N/A on the display. The next day my custom tunes arrived and I tried each one, only to find that they all exibited the same issue. However, whenever I reloaded my stock tune the Edge Insight display functionality returned just fine. Michael attempted a software fix and it too caused the Edge Insight display to exhibit the same issue as before.
I contacted Edge and was told to make sure the Insight has the latest firmware update (which I checked and it did). I called SCT and talked to one of their techs who offered no resolution to the problem. I again contacted Michael Penfield and suggested sending my stock tune to SCT for them to analyze and compare to their tunes. He agreed, but they instead sent me a stock tune they said should have been installed on my truck -well my Edge Insight didn't work with it either. Again, re-installing my original stock tune restored my Edge Insight display functionality.
Now SCT's head programmer has told Michael they have no clue as to what could be wrong and have given up. I can't believe my truck is the only one to have this issue. I'm wondering if I should replace my ECU and see if it will work. Might have to have Ford reflash it? Anyone else have this issue with incompatability between the Edge Insight and the SCT SF3?
