Why do you need a DOT number, you are not a haulling for hire are you? If you are legal in your home state you should be legal there.

check this out, while traveling through iowa, evidently there was a tornado watch/warning near me. I saw a storm chase vehicle heading west. the sky looked strange and it was crazy windy out nost long haul truckers were pulled over

Regular #2 is dyed green, off road is red... Green diesel=normal. The DOT # that they asked you for is for PUC (public utility charge) its basically un taxed diesel at the pump (but carriers have to pay the tax at a later time) since you don't have a DOT# you should be paying the normal tax rate. I'm guessing that you stopped at the truck lanes and not the "auto" lanes.

Ya I was flying into that storm. Got to Fargo and couldn't land so they sent us back to Minneapolis, sat for a hour, then they went clear up to winnepeg and back down to go around the storm. Just got landed bout an hour ago.
