I just read a recent thread that said if I have a 2005 truck and a 2004 motor I wont have an STC fitting. Is this true, if so then I will be so thrilled ? I was going to pay someone else to work on my ride and update the STC fitting , but if I don’t need to then I am totally fine with doing my own EGR delete and oil cooler replacement. So what’s the skinny on this DO I HAVE AN STC fitting on this truck, or just one that’s not prone to failure? How will I know for sure if I have a 2004 motor. The build date I think is 11 of 2004, but the title says 2005.

The engine year is the key, not the model year of the truck the engine is in.
The STC fitting is on 05-06 model year engines (actually not ALL 06 model year to be exact, but close enough). Look at the sticker on the passenger side valve cover. I think you have an 04 engine though, so congratulations. Trust me, if you can do the oil cooler replacement, you can handle the STC fitting replacement. It isn't rocket science |

My ICP is on the valve cover still a late 04 ?

No, the 04 model year is when that changed to the passenger side valve cover.
Do you have that monstrosity of an "EGR throttle plate" just in front of and to the left of the intake elbow? |

Yes, late build. Early builds were under the turbo. For the ICP.

Here is where the ICP was originally on the early build motors.

another way to tell is that the new style oil pump has a aluminum cover.
