Head gasket Dow size.

I talk to the parts guy at the ford dealer today about head gaskets. He said that I needed to pull the heads and measure the Dow to make sure I get the right gasket. I though that trucks built before a certain date were 18mm and after that date are 20mm. My truck is an 05 and I thought I needed the 18's. Could someone point me in the right direction on this issue.

Thanks

They say that in case you had your engine replaced and now have different dowel sizes than it should have originally. But, they should be able to go off of the head casting number alone. I had to do that when I ordered my heads so the shop could send the correct sized dowel heads.

I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives.

The 20MM Dowel Headgaskets were on Jan 2006 trucks and later. You should need 18's, unless you did an engine swap or something crazy like that.
