Input please
I just completed an egr delete, oil cooler, stc fitting and turbo clean. Truck runs great. I didn't replace stock head bolts to the ARP's. What do you all think about adding a programmer and only boosting horsepower to 60 hp? I tow a trailer that is pushing 14,000 lbs. sometimes. Input anyone?

The key to it is to make sure the tune writer knows EVERYTHING about your truck. Tunes are written for non-studded trucks all the time. DO NOT use the "canned" or "one size fits all" tuners. Custom tunes are the only way to go.

I don't know much about the tuners that are out on the market. Which tuners do you think are the best ones for my truck? It's an '05 srw crew cab lariat 4x4. Thanks again and God bless.

I would only run a SCT x3 tuner. I have innovative diesel tunes and am pretty happy with them, though there is quite a few other writers out there.

Eric at Innovative or Vivian at Quick Tricks seem to be the top two tune writers.
SCT X3 seems to be the most popular choice of tuner. |

I have the SCT X3 and couldn't be happier with it. My trucks not a race truck by any means. I pull a skidsteer on a semi regular basis (ltw approx 11500) and have been using Innovative's tunes for a problem free 75k+. I do change to the "tow" tune for the job. For everyday use I run the "extreme street". The difference it made for my mostly stock truck was amazing. After a day or two I realized that I was an adult, now I avg about 17mpg's (CCSB, mostly highway).
I'm not cheerleading for anyone. I understand there are some awesome tuners out there. I have read several people post that tunes work different for each truck? Erics tunes work in my truck. I feel theres no need to change it. *edit* I did install a stud kit approx 9K ago, and a new tune was written for my by ID. The replacement was not due to failure, just as pm. Also make sure you monitor your engine vitals with a good set of gauges, most here prefer the Edge insight cs or cts. This way you can keep an eye under the hood and catch a possible issue before its too late.

I would put Matt at Gearhead into the above mix. Any of the three will get you a nice tune. I have tunes from all three but run Matt's SRL++ as a DD.
