I am looking into buying a new truck finally and i found a 2004 f-250 6.0 6 speeed for sale with 114k on it. I was wondering if this is a good buy. they ar asking 17k but i need something that is reliable and i have read up on the things that need to be done to them to make them reliable. i travel 400 miles to school and i want to not have to worry about my vehicle when taking these trips. so i was wondering if this truck is worth getting or if i should stick with getting a 7.3 or a 3rd gen cummins

2. As i have told my 19 year old son, you can not afford to keep a powerstroke running, just the every day maintance will break you.

I have plenty of technicall knowledge and can work on the truck myself. it is still worrys me about everything ive heard about these engines. if i got it i would do the coolant flush egr delete and tuner then eventually do the head gasket and studs. is this truck worht what they are asking and i know if it was a 7.3 114k miles is not a lot but idk about the 6.0s

17k seems kinda high you got to realize that truck is 7 years old.

Check the temps of ECT and EOT. Make sure those are within 15* of each other.

As far as price? They all seem to vary from area to area.

Yeah i think it is high for the mileage on it. they origanilly had it listed as 17,900 but it dropped to 16,900 so i was thinking about seeing if they would take 14 which would be a good price then i could use the extra cash for all the mods needed

17 is probably a little high, I'd try for 15. I paid 16 for my 05 scsb and it had 120 on it when I bought it last year, but mine had studs, oil cooler, and egr delete already done. Does the one your looking at have anything done yet?
