8,170 Miles on Mobil 1 5W-40 TBD
I went ~1,000 miles on the oil before I got the Bypass on the truck. My truck had 70,283 when I sent in the sample last week. Since then I have put ~300 more miles on the same oil.
During the 6,000 mile mark on the oil, I went on a 1,000 mile trip and I pushed the truck hard... It was my first time seeing how my truck played out with the it new modifications, tuning, egr mod...etc. Please let me know what you guys think. Thank you. Nice! You may want to blur out your phone number and address, this is a public forum, most people on here wouldnt do anything rude but you never know..

The oil has sheared to the middle of the 30 wt class
40 wt SUS viscosity: 68 to 82.5 SUS OR 12.5 to 16.29 cStokes 30 wt SUS viscosity: 56.5 to 68 SUS OR 9.3 to 12.49 cStokes Personally I think you have done well and I would change it if it were mine. HOWEVER, I would love to see what it looks like at 10k miles. |

i run amsoil 15-40 for about 10k and no issues so far. i should however get it tested i guess.

According to your current viscosity it had sheared to a 30 weight by 6k miles or there about. That's not necessarily a problem but something to keep an eye on. It has sheared pretty well into the 30w range and I have seen a lot of posts that it slows down or stops shearing at 30w. I'd be interested to see what it looks like in another 2k.

I have heard this also, but I have seen a few UOA's that had sheared to the upper end of a 20 wt. I can't recall if they were 5W40, 15W40, or 10W30, but they were around 10k miles IIRC.

If the dealer does not change the oil, I will be putting M1 back in. test at 8,000 miles. see how it does. Then move on to another syn for 2 intervals and do the same 8,000 miles test. I have not decided what oil will be next.
