Coolant Flush?
So instead of Restore and Restore Plus I've got a Coolant System Cleaner (CSC) made by Baldwin. According to the back panel it does the same thing as Restore and Restore Plus, but it's all in one.
Question 1: Has anyone tried this and will it actually work, or should I take it back and get the Restore and Restore Plus? Question 2: What is the coolant capacity? Thanks |

My understanding is that Restore is a base and Restore Plus is an acid. So that being said if you combine them into a product, in theory it'd be water or close to it. I can't say that CSC is bad or good, never heard of it though. Coolant capacity is 3.5-4 gallons coolant concentrate, then top of with distilled water. Read PGreenSVT's how to flush the 6.0 in the 6.0 mods, tech, and maintenance section a few sections below the 6.0 and 7.3 forums. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply. I've read the flushing procedure by PGreenSVT. I'm wondering if this stuff from Baldwin will work as good as the 2 seperate Restore products??

Funny you should ask. I used the csc today! It is slightly acidic according to the directions. I filled my system with 1/2 gallon of csc and tap water. Drove around for an hour to circulate. Did this twice. Spent the rest of the day flushing the system with straight water. Had to be atleast 20 straight water flushes. Each time there was alot of tan colored varnish looking trash in the drained water. Finally by the end of the day it was mostly clean. I am going to flush a couple more times in the morning then will start on egr delete, new oil cooler, clean turbo and intake. I will let you know how the coolant passages look in the oil cooler when I pull it off.

You need to use distilled water (is straight water distilled water) when you do the flush to keep down on the minerals in the water when i did mine i went through 48 gallons of distilled water.
