Any thoughts?
I'm looking at buying a 2006 F-250 CC Lariat. It is from a dealer and has 103k on the odometer. Overall the truck is in great condition and has never been hooked up to a 5th wheel/gooseneck. I had the service dept of my local dealer run the vin and do a repair history check. It had an EGR valve replaced at 16k and only minor repairs since (batteries and calipers).
Knowing that the 6.0 is notorious for EGR issues and head gasket issues am I wrong for even considering a truck with this many miles? If I move forward on it I would bullet proof it within a year or so (EGR delete and head studs). The dealer is asking for $26,000. They have come down to $23,500 and I feel I could get it for about $20,000. What do y'all think? Should I jump on it or keep looking? Thanks in advance. |

Read this. If you can get a hold of a scan tool or monitor to check the EOT and ECT delta, this would be a big help on deciding if the truck is up to par.

I think it sounds very good. Get an OASIS report and see what warranty work has been done.

Check out the condition of the coolant also. Look for buildup in the degass bottle. 102k is not a lot of miles for a diesel.
