Should i get a 6.0 excursion

I found a 2003 6.0 Excursion with 95k for a good price. I used to have a 7.3 with 265k and no problems but I know that the 6.0's have had some problems, and i have not yet had time to research them here on the forums, however, you guys own these things and know best, so, should i buy this thing or not. are the problems something that after they are fixed they are fixed? or do they happen over and over? Anything will help, thanks guys.

If you can somehow get ahold of an Edge Insight or other monitor to plug into that EX and drive it and see how the temps are, that is your best bet. If you can prove that the oil cooler is getting plugged, you could beat them down on the price. Or better yet, maybe the temps are good and you will have one less thing to worry about.. I love my EX... yes, you have to keep an eye on the 6.0's, but its worth it..

I got one and like it! I just put an Insight on it and my temps are good. All the warranty work was already done on it a few years back plus all injectors replaced last year. its got 118k on it

Thanks guys...what a tough decision, the one i am looking at is 5 hours away so i don't think i could do the due diligence necessary to know if i was getting a good truck. I'll keep looking and if i find something close by I'll look into it. Thanks for the write-up links lilpooh.

I went Ex shopping with an Insight and it gave me some leverage to lower the price considerably on the unit I liked.

Yes buy it! The problems people get from the 6.0 are usually from add ons without engine upgrades..I have one that's lasted forever and only had a few injectors,sensors, and new oil cooler replaced after 150k
