fuel pump humming...

I've noticed over the last few days my fuel pump is humming. Its loud enough that I can hear it over the engin. I just replaced the fuel filters about 2 weeks ago. The pump runs a good 15 to 20 seconds after the glow plugs are done.

Any ideas on if its normal? If I have to replace it I can handle it for sure. Just wondering what you guys think.

Mine just started the same thing on and off last coupke weeks. I'm clueless too. When you Turn the key you can wait it out and will stop but sometimes it doesn'.

Its probably your vaccum/air pump running and not your lift pump. Did you develop a leak that it running overtime

it's the lift pump. i got under the truck and listened to it while it was running. Frame rail and not under hood on passenger side.

Mine is the lift pump also. It's freakin loud. I hurd fuel pumps before and its like a Dang mini compressor

your fuel pump runs for 1 minute when u turn the key on it builds 100 psi and your regulator determines final pressure i believe i know the 1 minute and 100 psi are right that is if u don't start the truck up it shouldnt be noisy if it is i would check your filters and all that again mine got noisy cost me 2 injectors and a pump and alot of headaches

Yeah when I turn my key I can here my pump run with my glow plugs but it usually cuts off a few seconds after the plugs but now its unusually loud and run a long time. I can hear it run while my truck is running. You got me scared when you say objectors problems lol. I'm goin to change my fuel filters this weekend and check the water drain plug. Or maybe it is the pump going bad

yeah im on hold with ford over the phone as we speak. i dont have my fuel pressure gauge or anything hooked up this second so i dont want it to loose pressure or something and fry some injectors. i will post back when i here what they say
