Heads up on International Thermostat
I picked up an Interantional thermostat to change out when I did my coolant flush. The part # was 1837971C91. When I went to install it I found that the spigit for the hose was larger than on my stock one so my upper rad hose would not fit. I simply pulled the thersmostat out of the housing and installed it in my old housing. Works fine. Not a big deal, just something to be aware of.

Are there two different thermostat designs? I read about everyone removing for coolant flushes or disassembling them for new replacement. Mine is a one piece deal, housing and t-stat in one. My new one from Ford came as a complete assembly too.
I would've liked to remove it for the purpose of moving more volume through the system when I did the flush but it wasn't really neccesary since I was patient and drove mine around with the VC-9 and restore as per the directions rather than sit on my thumbs in the driveway. |

It comes as a housing thermostat assembly. but you just pop the thermost.at out of the housing by pushing down and turning the two tabs on the thermostat. Reverse to install in housing

Oh ok, that makes sense. I'll have to give my old another look. I was just curious because what I've read, the people didn't explain that.
Thank you |
