poor mileage, any suggestions?

Okay, so I have an 04 6.0 CC FX4 SB with 35's and 4" suspension lift. I have owned it since new and and was wondering what I can do to increase my mileage. I have had the EGR replaced 4 times, along with the oil cooler, EGR cooler and turbo (oil cooler, EGR cooler, turbo, and EGR all went out the day before my 5 year 100k mile warranty was up) just over a year ago. Anywho, was getting 15-17mpg and it has been slowly dropping to now just below 12mpg. I plan on doing an EGR delete soon, because once again, my EGR is going out. I recently repaired my FICM hoping it would help a little but no. So my brother mentioned the MAPS, cleaning that and trying it. Any ideas here?

The egr delete will do a big job in helping your truck out.

How is your air fitler, fuel filters and oil change intervals? How many miles?
Your coolers are going bad not because of the units them selves but it is the coolant. Do a really good flush and change to an ELC rated coolant from a near by auto store.

107k miles, just changed my fuel filters in October, air fret needs to be replaced, going to an intake (any suggestions) and oil changes every 7-8k.

With that kind of milage and egr issues, your turbo will most likely have some build up which will restrict your truck. Taking the trubo out, inspecting, and cleaning the turbo would be a good idea.

This is the cheapest place I am aware of for filters.
Home - Diesel Filters,Additives, brake rotors, and brake pads for Chevy, Dodge and Ford Diesel Trucks

You should stick with the stock filter because of how well it filters dirt. If you get an after market filter the turbo will not last as long because the dir filtration is not as good as the stock. Do a search and you will see that many say stick with the stock filter set up.
If you are really dead set on getting a new air fitler there are better products to put that money, like tuning and exhaust.

Ford states to never pass 7,500 miles on the engine oil. If you dont already stick with only Motorcraft fitlers, Racor fitlers, and international filters.

Many will say not to pass 6,000mils on the engin oil if you use non syn oil. If you use syn, stay under 8,000 miles.

Because of your egr issues, you should take the intake off and clean it out.

#1 that will effect mpg is the condition of the truck.
#2 tuning
#3 egr delete
#4 Muffler and cat delete pipes, or cat delete pipe with a X" cat back system, or and X" turbo back system.

Also I'm wondering if your EGR keeps goin out, have you checked your oil cooler? Your temp delta between EOT and ECT? That could be a bigger problem than just mileage

Hey 06 Beast

What mileage are you getting with you rig?

My 06 KR has 120K on it (with no engine problems at all) and I would like to know if there are any pieces/parts/kits that can help me pick up a couple MPG.

BTW.. The truck is bone stock

I got around 14-15 this winter and it'll go up to around 16-17 for the summer. I'm running the mods in my sig. I gained almost 2 mpg when I added the SCT and exhaust. Oh and the lightening the right foot helps too.

I get just under 12.5 mpg. I haven't a clue how these guys are getting 17+ mpg unless everywhere they go is uphill and they just let it roll home without starting it up.
