Fan belt noise

I have a perfect bill of health for my 6.0. I do have a very annoying problem. The fan belt squeeks. 128k on the original. I replaced the idler bearings and checked all the others, they are fine. I made a chalk mark on the top of the alternator pulley on the belt when i heard the noise. It squeels at the same position every rotation of the belt. The belt looks ok but could it be bad and still look ok?

Did you replace the tensioner?

I replaced the bearing in it. The tensioner looked nice and square and had good tension.

I buy all my parts at Advance Auto Parts. Just buy the highest grade belt they have and you should be good.

Not too bad, just pull up on the belt to max out the tensioner and then use the little metal tab on the bottom of the tensioner to lock it out. Change the belt and then just give the belt a yank, the tab will unlock and you are done.

Cool. I read other posts of guys removing the shroud. I was thinking that was going a bit too far.

The first time you do one, it's a b***h! It's easier if you take the upper fan shroud piece off. It's just clips on.
