ECT vs. EOT question

Just got back from driving the truck about 60-70 miles. Never seen more than a 7°-9° difference between the two. My ECT was hovering between 184°-186° and never got any warmer. My EOT was between 190°-193° .My question is, do I really have a 7°-9° delta or is my thermostat sticking open slightly and I really only have a 2°-4° delta? Either way I know I'm fine, just curious.

Looks like it might be sticking slightly.

My ECT on the highway will always run at 190*-191*. (that is empty and no head wind or heavy foot, and outside temps have been around 45* to 58*) When I lift my foot to take an exit, my ECT will drop to 188*. Very rarely after I get up to operating temp, my ECT wont go below 188*.

My EOT however, will fluctuate. At 190* ECT My EOT runs 194*-197*

The other day, strong head wind about a 2 mile gradual grade, My ECT went to 194* and EOT hit 199*-200*

All of these are based on I'm now paying more attention to these readings now that my Scangauge II is loaded with all those gauges. I'll be watching more as the temps outside get warmer.

Doug what were ambient temps.

The t stat wasnt sticking. Its designed to partially open at 182

55°-60° outside. Running 65-67 mph.

Hi Doug,
I had a similar experience today. I ran I70 between Terre Haute and Indy (80 miles +/-) to pick up my Restore. I had similar temperatures the entire time. Ambient was in the mid 50s today. I have taken the precaution of ordering new tstat and am doing the coolant change out and coolant filter next week myself. I now have the Restore and Restore +, with Cat EC-1 concentrate. Building my own coolant filter system.

I'm waiting on the coolant filter. Also getting an EGR delete and just doing it all at the same time.
