Injector stiction vs complete failure
Okay so I know I have injector stiction. Truck runs fine, get great mpg on the highway etc. I also run rev-x and full synthetic 5w40, bypass, etc etc ficm 48 volts always, icp volts and pressure right where they should be.
So the stiction is much less when I run a hot tune, a lot more with a tow tune.. once I'm over about 90 EOT on hot tune its gone, once I'm over 130 eot of tow tune its gone. So the main quesion is what should I do? Run it? Replace the injectors? None of them are "bad" or leave a smokey trail. No codes etc. I assume the stiction probably leads to failure. And what about reman injectors.. do they last as long as the original ones, esp when taken well care of? Any of these place below better than the other or should I look elsewhere? Looking for stockers, no real need for bigger ones. 6.0L Powerstroke Injectors Diesel Care Inc |

My innovative tow tune has a bit of a lope and smokes quite a bit on a cold start too, my x street don't ever do it or if it does its not enough to notice, I run 5w40 syn too but no rex x. I don't understand why it does it worse with the tow tune installed.

I think its something to do with the tunes, my tow tune from innovative smokes quite a bit during cold starts and then clears up shortly after. On the other hand when I load my hybrid race tune from spartan there is no smoke at all really smooth cold starts... Its got me kind of confused too.

I guess you just run them till they die. I do my best to take care of what I have.. 2 cycle oil, syn. motor oil, cetane additive etc..
Be nice to know how many people have replaced injectors and stiction has gone and stayed away. Apparently the extra fuel from the "hot" tunes helps relieve that major stiction that you would get with a stock or tow tune. That tell me most of the stiction is on the fuel side.... |
