Tanny not shifting right and blinking tow haul light
I was driving home about 2 days ago and the truck started shifting wierd. Sometimes it would start off in what seemed to be 3rd gear and it seems like its slipping between 2nd and 3rd gear. Also if im going around 60mph or so the truck will randomly shift down a gear and then back up a gear. I had custom spartan tunes on there so i took them off to see if that made a difference, it did help a good bit but the problem is still there. The tow haul light is blinking.... do yall have any suggestions of what this could be?
I read somewhere that a shift pressure solenoid could be the problem? Also when i put the truck in reverse the truck shakes and jumps while backing up... Thanks so much

Yea, get it scanned and see what the code is, that will point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the input, but if i get it scanned will it still show the problem without the check engine light? Becuase the only light comming on is the tow haul light when trying to shift between certain gears. That that blinking act as some other kind of check engine light? I scanned it already with my SCT tuner and it showed no DTC's but i did clear it anyways while i was driving and it took off the Tow light for a while and the problem went away untill about 10min or so... Is there anykind of sensor in the tranny that would cause such symptoms that yall know of? Thanks again

My truck did the same thing a couple years ago, turned out it was a shift solenoid, dealer dropped pan to fix and all has been well since.

Appreciate the input man. That just conferms what i have been thinking. I pray that that is all is wrong. How hard is it to replace that and is there only one? Which one would i have to replace? Thanks!

Get it scanned by a dealer or you are just guessing. With the tow/haul light blinking there will be a code set in the TCM.

I just had the same issue with my 2005 excursion w/ 6.0 powerstroke. I took the cover off of my tilt steering column and found that the wires running up the shift selector lever were getting pinched when you would tilt the column up and down. It caused the wires to get chaffed and started shorting and blinking on and off, not all of the time though. I had to splice some wire in between and even added a little extra length. But one of the wires were completely broken apart. Hope this helps. Let me know.
