Oil/Filter Prefrences?

Doing my first oil change on my 06 6.0. Previous owner just took it to NTB for oil changes so there is no telling what they put in, but from now on i want to run whats best for it. So lemme know what you guys think on what oil and filter I should be running. Im looking forward to doing a oil change and coolant flush/filter add this weekend.

most 6.0 guys will tell you to use a full synthetic 5w-40 changed fairly often, i dont know about the filters i think there is a site to buy racor filters pretty cheap that a lot of guys use. maybe its the diesel filters online site. anyway thats the quick answer the detaild ones will be coming soon!

Thanks for the quick reply. So switch it on over to a full synthetic? My truck has 76K on it if that makes any bearing on the decision i should make. As always thanks for the help guys!

You're likely going to get a LOT of different opinions, so I'll tell you what I run. I use a Racor filter (they make the Motorcraft filters), and Rotella 10-30 for winter use, and 15-40 for summer use

Change the oil and filter every 5000 miles, or less if you're real anal about it

I live in Houston, TX we don't have winters here! Ya im going to just stick with every 5K miles... i am not that anal about it. Plus hell it pricey to do the changes any more frequent then that.... not to mention $3.99 a gallon :-)

I am now running Rotella T6 5w-40.

And buy my filters from here: (Racor) and (NTZ for the trans.)
