vegetable oil mixed in fuel?

A friend told me that mixing a gallon of regular vegetable oil into a full tank of fuel, on his 6.0 Powerstroke, is good for the engine. Anyone ever heard of this? Is this good for the truck. I have added Lucas oil in the past and it seemed to quiet it down for a bit.

Might try over in the alternative fuel section.. easier to add diesel fuel supplement or 2stroke oil.
