Want to do it right once !

Hey guys, I am currently in the process of the cab off head gasket job... the dealer is doing it so its kinda pricey but none the less i only want to do this once!

The truck tows most days of its life and is always on the road, I am doing the injectors and EGR delete as well as the head gaskets and ARP studs. I have been told to do the oil cooler while im there so probably that too.

What else needs to be done to ensure reliablity and sleepability knowing i put 15,000 worth of work into my rig ?

Also what else can i do after its done to help out? is there a certian oil i should run or coolant?

What year truck? There are upgraded factory parts that can be put on. Clean the turbo.

While the heads are off, send the heads to a reputable machine shop to check for flatness and cracks.

If you don't mind me asking, where abouts in Ontario are you located? What is the model year of the truck? What's the name of the dealer doing the work? Is that $15,000 inclusive of all parts and labour? Even so, that does sound a little steep. The work you describe could likely be done at my dealer for half of that.

Use a CAT EC-1 spec ELC coolant and a 5w40 synthetic oil.
