Looking at 2003 F250
Hi I am new here but have been looking for a used diesel for a few weeks now and finally found one. But I talked to my local Ford Truck Dealer and in talking to him he did tell me to not buy a 2003 and that his dealership will not even put one on the lot because of all the problems that they have.
The truck that I found happens to be an 03. I am wondering if I should continue looking or get this one? The truck has 105000 miles on it and looks really nice I am suppposed to be taking it for a test drive tommrow. Is there certain things I should look for on an 03? Or just stay away from them completely like the dealer said? The truck that I am looking at is F-250 SUPER DUTY POWER STROKE DIESEL 4X4 OFF ROAD XLT 6.0L V8 FI Turbo Any Help or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks |

First thing i would do is get an OASIS report on the truck and see what has been worked on

always a catch huh?
j/k, the 6. has more probs than the 7.3, but can easily me modded to make life more fun (Wink,Wink). if this is your first test drive on the diesel, drive several others, by then you can get a good feeel of what you might like or not, and the way it drive's, such as driving tight and no excessive noises, after all, if the trick has over 100k on the ticker, the factory warranty is out.. |

My only question, is this a ford dealership? If it isn't a ford dealership then don't buy it from them, because if you do have problems with it then they won't know what to do with it. And yes, the 03s have been known to have some problems, usually in the ealry stages of their life. But with 105,000 miles on her I doubt it was in the shop that much. Do as the others have said, Get an Oasis, Test drive it, test drive others, and if possible talk to the previous owner (hopefully most of them are honest), and look for leaks underneath and white residue around the degas cap.
