No cold air with a/c

Ok. I am A/C challenged to say the least. Last year the compressor quit engaging so no cold air. I checked the pressure of the refridgerent and it was good. Any ideals what could it could be? Any good write ups on how to get to it so you can work on the stinkin thing cause from what I've seen it's tucked up in there pretty good. I tried to search and came up with nothing??? Thanks in advance.

Check to see if the bolt on the center of the compressor fell out (compressor clutch assembly). I believe it's a 8mm Allen head bolt.

Could be many different things. Have you checked relay, fuse, power to the compressor clutch. Just because you have pressure(134a) in the system doesn't mean you do not have a faulty pressure switch. Check fuses/relays first, then jump your pressure switch and see if the clutch engages. Check for power at the compressor clutch. It is possible to have a bad clutch!

Ok no bolt in the middle just a hole. Where can I get one or what size is it so I can get one that fits? Also, after I wiggled some wires it started engaging and blowing cold air again????

The Allen head is 8mm, the thread is 6mm x 1 pitch if I remember right. I had the same issue once, the bolt fell out and had to replace it.

Ok, I hate searching a topic just to be left scratching my head because no one ever finalized it. So, I bought the compressor bolt from the Ford dealership and installed it today. The front of the compressor was loose before I bolted it back together. Once I was done it worked like a charm. Hope this was my problem.... it was a 2 dollar fix ...cheapest repair so far!

At least your ford dealer knew what bolt it was, my local dealer looked at me like I was an idiot. The parts schematics didn't show a bolt, so they were clueless.

Ended up grabbing a handful of bolts from work to figure out what size I needed. POOP HAPPENS!!
