I need a project for my machining class. Basically my options are pretty open so I figured I would make something for my truck, probably out of aluminum. The mill I will be using can handle probably almost anything I can throw at. Anyone have any ideas of stuff that would be a cool add on?

I will have to design the part in a CAD program then run mastercam to write the machine code.

it would be cool to make a grille for your truck but that ids a a huge piece of aluminum if it has the capability of making threads you could make a billet oil filter cap. or some custom emblems to replace you factory f-250 emblem. like on i saw f-666 reckless edition. some thing cool that no one else has thats what i would do

Upper fuel filter cap to match your oil filter cap.. Or oil fill cap and dipstick handle like these.

How about an oil manifold like the Bulletproof diesel? Or, how about an EGR Valve "Offset Mount?" Basically, it would surface mount to the Intake Manifold and allow the EGR Valve to mount to it with the valve portion residing in a port/sleeve identical to that inside the intake. This would make a good place to mount an EGR Valve and leave it plugged in for casual inspection. Would need extended bolts to replace the short bolts which normaly mount on the flange of the EGR Valve. My thought for that is, I hear some guys just leave it plugged in and just lying up on the engine. This way, it would be secured. Not sure about clearance, and length of the valve sensor cable. Would need to verify that.

front ford oval with letters sunk in rather that pressed out. Then you could paint the letters your color choice, never seen one like that.

I thought about the grill but I don't think the university would be to thrilled about paying for a piece of aluminum that big. I'm kinda liking the badge idea. Maybe do two ovals, one for the grill and one for the tailgate, and then 3 f-250 badges of some sort.

I was originally gonna do a carb spacer for a small block chevy but I don't really need one of those at this point.
