Interesting read... I learned a couple things and figured I would share.

Might just be me, but the link does not seem to work.

Link worked for me. Haven't read it yet, but saved it to the computer in the same file as the 6.0l bible. I'll read it a little later. Thanks for posting.

Whoa whoa whoa, wait a cotton pickin minute. Somethings not right.
That looks nothing like any 6.0 I've ever seen. She's way too clean and PURDY!!! I bet the engine in them there photos still has that new powerstroke smell. That was a cool link. Thanks for postin it. |

that shows a good pic of the oil supply piston. you can physically move that piston with a 4lb magnet to verify free movement of the vanes before turbo installation

Where do you access it with a magnet? Through the solenoid bore?
I would be more concerned with that piston being sludged up causing improper vane sweep more than the vanes coking up after seeing a nice cut away like that. My '04 and '03 turbo were only lightly sooty in the turbine housing and vanes assembly. No dirtier than if you wiped your finger inside the exhaust pipe. Both had 80 to 90k miles on them. It barely took any effort to clean everything and reassemble. |
