Can the Dealer tell what tunes you run
Im curious if the Dealer can tell what tunes you are running on the truck.
As in if i run a tow tune, or a custom tune and the truck has a problem. I then flash it back to the stock tune to take it to the dealer, can they tell if its running custom? I used to run custom tunes on my F150 and would flash it back to stock and remove my Edge tuner and pod from my dash before Dealer service. Anyone with experience in this? |

They can tell if it is not a stock tune.

They will not be able to tell what tune you have been running, but they will know you have had a tuner on it.

One of the easiest ways to tell if there was tunes that where ripped out right before it comes in is to look at distance since clear and warmups since clear pids on the scanner.

Ok so I guess the answer is yes they know you changed the tune program just they can't see what you ran.
Thanks I'm just concerned if I had a problem and took it to the dealer if they would automatically say I had ran tunes and so nothing will be covered |

But is that definitive? For instance, if someone has a monitor or scanner (like my DashDAQ XL, not a tuner) which can clear DTC's they might have cleared the code just for troubleshooting purposes without any tune being present. So the question is, might that not be a misinterpretation to assume the truck was tuned because of a short distance since clears?

Good Point Tex
I would expect to throw a code before i went to my dealer and i would clear most codes once to see if it reappeared. My Dealer i seriously doubt is mob friendly, hell they wont even give me a history on the truck. |

Like mentioned before, they won't be able to tell what level of tune is installed, but the will see a code that shows the computer being reflashed. I believe it's a P1000 code.
