New truck? Need help

Hello,
I am new to the 6.0 there is a lot of information on this site that has really helped me and let me know that with the proper mods the 6.0 can be very reliable. with that being said unfortunately I do not have a endless budget. i am looking at an 06 f350 KR and if I do end up purchasing this truck I will not have to much money to spend on mods now through reading on this site I believe that it would make more sense for me to do an egr delete over doing head studs is this true? and what other cheap mods should be done. Obviously I can wait to do exhaust and chips and such I just need it to be reliable to save up for those modes haha

Edge Insight first. That way you can monitor the vitals and catch that oil cooler before it fails.

EGR delete around $150 on ebay.

Coolant filter (to prevent or prolong the interval between oil coolers) Build it yourself for around $60.

CCV reroute (Stealth Auto to get NCHornets kit)

That should keep you busy for awhile.

thanks for the advice but what do you think of like the banks iq monitoring system that has the touch screen i really like the way the big monitors look like that if not that one which other one would you suggest i know sct has one and alot of people like the sct tunes

As long as your only using Banks for monitoring and NOT TUNING you should be alright, check and see if it monitors everything that an Insight does.

The other thing that should have been mentioned above is oil bypass filter and replace Ford coolant with an ELC coolant. Insight and coolant swap would be must haves to start.

ya i wasnt planning on using it for tuning i just liked the monitoring system they have because of the big screen and it seems to have alot of options for monitoring and the insight is made by edge correct? thanks again

That's correct.

The Edge Insight CTS is a larger screen color with expansion port for future sensors like Fuel pressure and oil pressure that are coming out soon.

As for what to do after you get your monitoring solution, The most important is to flush the system good with Restore and Restore Plus or VC-9 and then tho swith to a Cat EC-1 rated ELC coolant and delete the egr. That will take care of a lot of problems the 6.0 has that all start because the Ford Gold G-05 coolant is the wrong coolant for this motor.

Once you have that squared away come back asking about what to do next but get taht stuff done first and in that order. Once you get the Insight you may find that your oil cooler is clogged and needs rebuilding so don't throw what money you have away on the other stuff before you do this or it my just bite you in the butt.

I believe the Edge Insight CTS is currently the largest color touch screen available. It also features more input options with there (hopefully) expanding sensor options. It also allows you hook up a rear view camera.
