Got trouble here fellow strokers. My early '04 is torn down for HGs, oil cooler, etc. Took my heads to get them checked, turned out to be warped. Bought another set from a fellow on Ebay, advertised as 18mm dowel. Heads are good and all, but it turns out they're for the 20mm dowel. I know it's a long shot, but does anyone make a dowel to make these heads fit my block? I'm stopped dead in my tracks on this job until I come up with a solution.

Click this link and read the last paragraph on page 1, revised step dowel pin with part #.

Lilpooh, thank you for the good info and quick reply. Just made my day. The way I'm understanding Jaspers info is that the head gaskets I have (18mm) will work, but I'll need a set of injector hold downs for a later motor. Doesn't sound like such a big deal after all. Thanks!!

it sounds like you need to get 20mm gaskets along with the special dowel pins and injector clamps. if i read it right your 18mm gaskets wont work.

Stopped by the ford shop on my way home, tech had a set of 'step' dowels in his stash. $20 later I've got them. I'm back on my way after I get another set of head gaskets on the way. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
