Problem with Edge Insight CTS

Had trouble right out of the box getting the unit to initialize (read vin). Did several software reloads/upgrades with the help of Edge tech support. Great guys. Very helpful, but no luck. Insight worked sometimes, but not always. Came to the conclusion that I had some kind of connection problem. Unit screen would periodically go blank while driving. Switched out cable with help of Edge tech support. More reliable but still occasionally goes blank while driving. When I touch the blank screen it will activate and more than likely initialize and everything is back to normal. Sometimes when I try to turn it back on it powers up, the gauges appear, but it never dispays data and it goes blank again. I have occasionally tapped the cable connection at the OBDII port prior to touching screen (powering up) and have had success. I really like the unit when it is up and running. Has anybody else had this problem with the Insight CTS?

I am having the same problem. the CTS comes on fine and will work for a few minutes and then shuts off while I am driving. I touch the screen and it comes back on, gauges show, says loading and them shuts off again. Waiting for a reply from Edge.

Check the connection to the obdII port. Mine was a little loose, put a small zip tie around it o shore the connection and haven't had any more trouble. Also, when starting the truck, turn the key on, turn it off, then start the truck. I just started doing that and haven't had any trouble since.

I know it sucks to have to operate things funny, but, what do you do.

I had an issue with my CTS in the spring. It kept freezing up on me and I would have to unplug it to get it to turn off even after I shut off the truck. I did some diagnosing with the edge techs and they eventually told me to send it to them so they could check it out. About two weeks later I received a package that had a new Insight CTS in it! This one has worked perfect ever since! Great customer service.

Knock on wood... I have not had any problems with my CTS
No special tricks or procedures, it comes on when starting and stays on.

I have three trucks all running the CTS with not one problem. The trucks are and 08 6.4, 04 6.0 and an 05 6.0... Funny though because I installed one on an 03 the other day and had to manually enter the VIN. The others all read it automatically... Not sure why. But after inputing the VIN it worked perfect.

I just hooked up a CS and I had to manually input the VIN. However, the unit has been working flawlessly since that issue. Great Unit!
