IPR valve?
Hey everyone, so I stopped by the shop today to check in on my truck. One of the heads was off and the other was in the process. Talking to the tech he showed me the HPOP screen and one of the sections was blown wide open. He suggested replacing the IPR while we were that deep into the engine. Would you guys recommend doing that?
Thanks |

Hey swamper I would change the ipr while you are in there, in my exp. they usually go hand in hand, and check for any other underlying problems cuz the screen shouldn't just blow out hope this helps

Ok. Thanks. That's pretty much what the tech was saying. It has 110k on the motor so I think that the screen was just old and wore out. It was only one panel of it and it was blown open kinda like a screen door.

The HPOP screen blowout is a very common problem. That's why the came out with the updated stainless steel screen. I's pull the IPR and check the screen on that too. Not real uncommon for them to clog or blow out either. Since you have it out anyway might as well put a new one in while you're there.

Mitch- yeah it's just hard to swallow that $300 pill in addition to everything else. But I'd much rather do it right the first time than have to tear into it again and pay twice.
