any problems with 5r110 transmissions

My Truck Is In The Shop Right Now. I Was Drive About 50 Mph And The Truck Just Started To Revup I Just Had 1,2 Gear So I Drove About 4 Miles And The Trans Was Getting Worm So I Pulled Over And Shut The Truck Off And I Sat There About 20 Min I Want To Restart The Truck Would Just Click But Everthing Was Working It Just Wouldnt Start Or Crank Over So I Took It To The Dealer And It Seams To Me The Just Want To Sell Me A $4,000 Transmission So I Was Just Seeing If Anyone Else Has Had This Problem Maybe Save Some Money Because I Just Bought This Truck And I Dont Want To Have To Trade It In For A Chevy Any Ideas

the alternator? how would that affect the tranny?

Maybe not enough power to run the tranny computer

not enough voltage to run the computer
it was only putting out low 11's
