Fuel Mileage question?
I was wondering if I could get some info on fuel mileage. I'm looking at buying an '06 F-350 cc 4x4 6.0 auto 4.30ls. Just wondered if anyone could ball park some mileage figures for me any responses would be much appreciated.

The general response will be 14-20 on average on the highway. I have a supercab short bed with 3.73s f250, I can get 19mpg on highway at 70mph, 2000rpm on stock settings. Every truck is different, even same year and setups.

I have a 05 6.0 f250a (not sure on the gears just yet) and am on here tonight looking for the some answers for mpg increase. I’ve ran tunes before and had little if no mpg increase but did find a gain in power and performance. Since then I’ve pulled the sct tuner out, cleaned my turbo, replaced the oil cooler, and added an egr delete bypass kit. I can honestly say I’ve seen no positive changes in performance/ mpg after going egr delete but the peace of mind was worth it. Good luck with your purchase I’m getting 14 all the way around never changes..

I thought all 6.0'sw came with 3.73 gears, but I've been wrong before.
Anyway, I get 12-14 city during the winter and 15 in the summer. Highway is 16mpg in th winter and 18 in the summer. I just took at 1750 mile trip and averaged 16.2mpg with 16.8 being the best tank. I averaged 68mph on the freeway. |

My fault I guess I should have been more specific, the truck in question has drw's.

I get a very consistant 16 mpg. I've got as high as 18 mpg at one time and as low as 14 mpg. I do not have any kind of tune.

![]() Theres no way to tell for sure until you get the truck and hand calculate the miles, but you can count on anything from 13MPG-20MPG If Fuel mileage is the hinge thats swinging you between saying yes or no i'd say a diesel probably isn't the best choice in vehicle. But if you buy it your gonna fall in love as long as you maintain it properly and take care of it. With 6.0s Maintenence can't be slacked on or overlooked. Let us know what you decide!! |

OEM truck as described with 4.30s should be a DRW. I'd bet 10+ in town no more than 14 on the HWY.

Alright partner, I own a stock height F-350, its a dually with the 4.30LS. I hand calculate every tank I've put in her. Standard hwy mileage for me is 14-15 mpg, if I absolutely behave and keep it around 60-65 mph. In town I average 12-13 mpg, this decreases to 11-12.5 mpg with the winter fuel. Towing 6k, it drops to 12-13, again around 60 mph. I trust this helps you making this purchase, let us know what you get.
