Need to really know if 8 years in if an 2003 6.0L is still as problematic ?
My son is looking to Purchase a 2003 F-250 Lariat, automatic, 2wd with a 6.0L Diesel powerstroke Milage is 127,800 , asking price $11,500 with a few dents .... mostly for City/ highway/mountain Driving no major towing,

I am concerned because I have never purchased a truck and I have read ALLOT about the 2003 6.0L as being the Main cause for MANY PROBLEMS Many PROBLEMS with the 2003 F-250 diesel,
and this specific model and year being amongst the least reliable.....But it's had to follow why besides the 6.0L engine ....
I have read to get an Oasis report for him, but it sounds like that can only be obtained from a deal or from the reistered owner.

1. Not if maintained.
2. Sounds like a good deal. Mileage isn't high at all.
3. Ford should give you one if you ask them. Someone hear my get you one before then.
4. EGR coolers in those things are beast so you should have to worry about that. Get a coolant flush done ASAP and get that old crap out. Put in a diesel coolant and get a coolant filtration system in there. A way to monitor the engine coolant temp versus the engine oil temp is also very good to let you know if something major is going to happen.

I had an 03 as my first truck and I loved it. Maintenance is key to these trucks living a long and happy life so don't cheap out and she'll be good to go for a long time.

I bought my 2003 with 168,000 and I am aproaching 177,000 now.

The price is good the only thing is see maybe it is the picture but i did the slide show and the degasing tank looks like a tank of rust and right under the cap you can see something like the same thing like it is puking coolant if it is PASS
