Routine stuff for '04 F250

My wife has bought me a '04 F250 fourdoor fx4 with the 6L powerstroke (escentally my dream truck)for a wedding present! I have been doing hours of research and reading the forums to get aquainted with my truck. Have been driving it for about 2 months now and it has about 78k miles on it and it seems in excelent shape. I am planning on doing an egr delete to prevent future problems but i am wondering if this is to soon. I know my way around a gas engine pretty well but i'm new with the disels. Also I understand the the importance of keeping oil changed fuel filters changed and taking care of the turbo are there any other areas that I need to be concerend about?? Thanks for any input or thoughts on these issues!!

-Fuel Filters (Motorcraft or Racor) every 10k
-Clean the EGR Valve now, and keep it cleaned with a heavy right foot
-Oil and filter (Motorcraft or Racor) every 5k (preferably 5W-40 synthetic)
-Transmission flush (at Ford) every 30k

Now it's time for some mods.

That's one hell of a wedding present. As far as the EGR goes, its never too soon to upgrade or delete that thing. Also flush and shift to a good ELC. While you're under the hood check the oil cooler, at 78k it may be clogged up. Keep up on the maintenance of that 6.0, correct her flaws early, and you'll have the truck for years to come.

I'd recommend that you invest in an Edge monitoring system like the Edge Insight. On these trucks you'll want to keep an eye on more items in greater detail than the dash guages provide. The Insight system will allow you to monitor over 100+ variables of your rig thru the OBDII port. For example, you'll be able to monitor EOT and ECT deltas which will give you an indication on the healthiness of your EGR and Oil coolers.
