04 turbo & pedestal on 03 wont fit?

I was under the impression that a 04 turbo would bolt on to a 03 engine if you used the pedestal off of the 04. However i seem to be having a problem with the pedestal hitting the intake manifold. Anyone have any further info on this or if thereis a work around? Thanks

Do you have some pictures? I'm guessing that the clearance issue is with the intake crossover to the rear? I'm reasonably sure the only difference in pedestals is the casting for the mounting/fastener point for the turbo on the pass. side near the compressor outlet.

I take that back. Just looked at my pictures, the rear turbo bolt is what was changed between '03 and '04 pedestals.

Secondary thought here, can the housings be separated and use the exhaust side off the 03 and put it on the 04 turbo so it will end up mounting to the original 03 pedistal?

Ya know what, you could do that..........but! Since the turbine count is different it may have a different profile and or diameter so compare and measure first. Test fit the housing after everything is cleaned very well to ensure clearance.

You might be on to something for all the guys swapping to '03s without pedestals.
