a short rant on dealers - or why I don't have a 6.0 yet
So I found a 6.0 03 EX for what looked like a great price. It was about 4.5 hour drive. Get on the phone, go over everything with the dealer, work out a trade, everything looks good, waiting to hear back from them on financing. He calls me at about 4:59pm and tells me their bank won't do it, will mine? I am pretty sure the answer is yes (I have good credit, knock on wood) but it is after bank hours and he will have to wait till morning.
Call the bank in the morning, financing is no problem. Call him back. OK, just need to get manager to sign off and will get me the K. 4.5 hours go by, no word from him. Call, won't answer. Finally calls me back, um yeah, we sold it to someone local. Thanks for nothing. rant //off// |

Ya, the majority of them would cut their brother's throat for a quick sale versus one where they have to wait a few more hours.

****ty. Pure ****ty. Hope you get a good one. Keep looking. I found my new one for a hell of a deal thanks to some minor inconveniences like the previous owner being a dirty old man and a few dents/dings

Kinda makes you wish that consumers had a way of rating or voting ****ty dealerships out of business. Sorry to hear that man. I had to drive 6 hours one way with my trade, and the deal almost didn't go through after my bank had issued the check. Sent the dealership almost 50 photos of the inside, outside, engine, and underneath. And they still wanted to pull some shut after I ha drove the 6 hours with check in hand! I feel for you, it'll cone though and you'll live it when it does!

That is my main reason for staying somewhat local. So they don't try any frickin stunts when I drive 5 hours away. They know they got you at a disadvantage because you don't want to go home without making the deal.

Yea but sometimes in small towns local dealers do the same thing. They know the distances of other dealerships and they know many do not like to drive 4 or 5 hours away to save a few bucks. It's hit and miss, I know here locally being a military town the dealerships take advantage of young service members. They don't budge on prices because they know the next guy will come right on in and pay msrp or higher. Because of this I only use the local guys to see what I like, then I research online to find the one I like. If I have to drive then so be it, I'm use to it.

Yeah, in those cases you really have to be willing to throw the whole deal away and drive home. I told them to f off and got 20min back in the direction of home with my trade before they called me and caved, had them then and got 500 more off the deal! But admittedly it doesn't usually work that way...

yeah really that is like best case scenario if they are desperate to sell a truck. glad that worked out for you. but really some dealerships are completely worthless and just try to steal from anybody and everybody until someone walks in that does not know what to do and they take the bullet.

At least you did not drive all the way there to find out it was sold already.
I was trying to help my son buy a car, the one he wanted was 2 1/2 hours away, I called them told them we were coming, left them my cell number and asked them to hold the car. When we got there, they told us they just sold it! |
