P405 code

With this code my check engine light comes on and off but I was wondering if I can just buy the updated oring kit and clean the egr valve? Or does that code mean i need to just replace the valve? I'm about to go on a trip this weekend to pickup a big tractor and want to make sure this code will not affect anything else.

You can pull the valve and clean it but most of the time it will happen again. I would replace the valve or delete it all together.

well its probably cheaper to delete it than to buy a new valve?

Not really. The delete kit itself isn't bad but you would have to get an SCT programmer with a custom tune to turn the EGR system off. Without shutting it off, you could still have a check engine light.

Ok thanks!!! I will go with replacing it in the next 2 weeks and hopefully it is ok to wait. I dont have the cash to get a tuner and delete kit right now.

one last question.... do I have to go back with a ford EGR valve or can I use aftermarket from NAPA?
