EGR cooler/valve question
Tried this in tds but seems a taboo subject, hoping you guys might help educate me I can't seem to find the answer I am looking for.
If the EGR valve becomes not operational (IE I damaged it) 2 things, if it is not repaired withing any quick amount of time does soot build up in the EGR system? Would just repairing/replacing the valve get the EGR system back in operation? If the valve is closed, isn't there still a risk of the whole "Puking" overflow of the coolant tank, wouldn't coolant still be flowing in the EGR cooler and still be at risk of temperature flashing under hi load? Thank you 04 F-350 CC 4x4 6.0l SRW Some accessories |

to the org! We don't mind anyone asking questions. There's a whole lot of smart people on this site who don't mind sharing what they know... Having said that, you don't really need the EGR for the engine to operate, so not sure if you want to go to the hassle of getting it fixed. Most programmers and tuners close the EGR valve down. Puking can still be a problem, but this might help...Sneaky Pipe |

Thanks for the welcome! That was kinda what I was thinking, using ID tunes in an Xcal2. How hard is it to replace the pipe, I seen this on DPP but I am hesitant with warranty issues or if too hard to replace.
Thank you |

Most tuners won't disable it, SCT is one of the only companies that can disable it via the tuner. Your best bet is to unplug it when the engine is cold, or remove it and tack weld it closed permanently.
