EXTREME cold?
So, I'm driving up to North Texas this weekend and I'll be there a month. To my knowledge, the hotel I'm staying at doesn't have a place for me to plug in the truck. The forecast is calling for 17* Sunday...should I be concerned? When I go home to Indiana or if it gets real cold here in Florida, I just plug the truck in if it's gonna be colder than about 30...What temps do yall normally plug yours in? Should I try to find an outlet somewhere?

Wow, that is extreme...
Oh you southern guys... ![]() As long as your glow plug system is in good shape they'll start below 0. I wouldn't worry about it. Mine will start unplugged down to about 8 with 15w40 and a failing GPR... Its a pain, but it'll do it I'm just messing around though... didn't want to sound like a jackass. I spend lots of time in the U.P. of Michigan. My perception of 'cold' is quite a bit different than a Floridian I bet. Last edited by partsguy84823; 01-06-2011 at 08:03 PM. Well this truck has been in Florida it's whole life...I'm from Indiana so I know 17 isnt "cold"...but for its the first time this truck will be in temps that cold without being plugged in. Just wanted to get some opinions haha...I'm running the Motorcraft 15W-40 Powerstroke oil.

It will romp a bit. But will start fine without being plugged in as long as your batteries are in good shape

All last week was close to zero - fire all the time with no issues.

i just switched to 10w30 T5 rotella, and it helps the cold starts a bit. But i know my injectors are coming up soon. the only warranty work my truck has had was for 1 egr valve and 1 turbo cleaning. i got it with 60k, and it now has ~95k. my oil is clean as well. IE not black. still golden at my 3k-4k oil change interval.
