What do you do with Dead Batteries

What can I do with a set of dead batteries that I just replaced? Where do I take them or sell them?

If you bought new batteries you were charged for a core. I'd take them and get your core refunded.

Some scrap metal places take them for the led. Many of the places that sell batteries also take the old ones, some even charge a core charge on the new batteries. I have also seen a local Craigslist ad for someone that will pickup the batteries and pays $2/ea.
