EGR delete CEL with tunes
I have a EGR delete and just got new tunes and the CEL is still on. Can all custom tunes turn off CEL without sacrificing power?

I turned my EGR off using the SCT X3. It has the option to turn it off, but took me a couple of minutes screwing with it to find it. After you find it and reload the tunes, you can read and clear the CEL.

Come on guys need input!!! Should i just deal with CEL or hook EGR valve back up and lay it on top of motor? I've got a SF3 but don't know if I can turn it off with it.

Whos' tunes did you get? And pluggin' the valve back in will only clear the specific code for it missing out of the system.
Some have said and I've never seen a definative answer with facts backing up claims such as the engine cooling fan will not engage or properly function with the valve unplugged and that some writers of tunes will not "program for EGR Delete" because it's not actually possible and instead what is taking place is they kill the cel. I don't know if altogether the light will not function even if from a different source of error or what. Maybe someone knows the answer

I had tunes from Eric @ ID and they turned off the CEL. But I just got these new tunes and i'm not ready to divulge that info yet. I know it's a holiday and want to give them a chance to correct it after the holidays. I just wanted to know how many people that had custom tunes it turned off the CEL after a EGR delete.

Oh ok that's fine. I have Erics tunes and I no longer have a light. EGR Cooler and the throttle body under the elbow is also deleted. However I have plugged my valve back in since reading something about fan issues.
Does anyone know for sure any solid facts about my earlier post above? |

Would you suggest to plug it back in and just lay it on top of the motor or take off the Sinister plate and re install it?

I would ignore the CEL till you get your updated/corrected tunes

Thanks lilpooh. I'll have to take some time to read thru them. I've got them bookmarked so I don't lose em.
I laugh to myself about this but I've seen others say to disregard the block off plate and leave the valve in. Which makes sense in regards concerning the fan but mines just layin next to the oil filter grounded out cause I'm stubborn to leave my blingy blue plate I paid for lol. After some more research it might just find itself bolted to the outside of my toolbox next to other stickers.
