7.3 owner looking to buy 6.0

Hey guys, just signed up for the site today and had a ? I've had a 97 f-250 powerstroke since new and love it, but need something a little bigger for my business and was looking at an 05-6.0 f-350 with 125k. my mechanic said he would be scared of it... any thoughts? also, what would be a good price? (It's crew cab 4x4 at w/leather and wilro flat bed...very clean. Dealer asking $22,000)

Thanks!

Ask the dealer for an oasis report on it. That will answer a lot of questions. Dealer price is a high too.

If i were you id get an edge insight and hook it up to read the eot and ect readings, if its more than a 15-20 degree difference chances are your oil cooler is shot. The 1st thing u should do is flush out the coolant use elc and add a bypass coolant filter. Theres sandcasting in our engine blocks that clogs up the coolers.

price is to high, i bought my 05 F250 crew cab lariat with 57,000 miles for $24,000. They are great trucks, you just gotta understand whats under the hood and what problems you can have. I'd do like above and check EOT and ECT, oasis report as well, should be a reliable truck if you treat it right, that usually how it works though. lol

Thanks guys! the oasis report shows no repairs, carfax no repairs, but the salesman told me they just spent $3,000 on the engine after noticing white smoke @ idle after running it pretty good. He's calling me back today with repair details. (Oh, and the bed, you can see it @ wil-ro.com)

nothing on the report prolly means it wasnt abused, and if it was blowing white smoke, you prolly have new headgaskets and egr, price is still high though

Yeah, I'm thinking it's high too Carl...said they were orginally asking $18k and then tacked on the repairs.

I also spoke with the service manager @ the local ford dealer and he said they have replaced a lot of injectors on the 6.0 more than anything else. He echoed what my Mechanic said about being scared of it...said I should stick with the 7.3 or even go with the new 6.7...
