Welcome to the .org!!!

If your buying from a Ford dealer, ask for an Oasis report. This will tell you what was done to the truck while it was being serviced at a ford dealer. If your buying private or used lot, get the vin # and post back up hear asking for a oasis report that someone can get for you.

Look for white coolant residue around degas bottle cap, signs of oil/EGR cooler issues, and possibly HG.

Others will chime in, but here is some reading material for you in the mean time.
Things to consider about owning a 6.0L

Get a Oasis Report that will tell you if it is a problem child and what has been replaced by Ford. Look at the degas tank for any white stuff around cap the coolent should be at the add cold mark check before they start it this is a sign of EGR cooler leaking or shot HG caused by a plugged oil cooler, look for oil leaks some leak at the bed plate back of motor check if they have the oil change records if changed a Ford dealer it will be on the Oasis when has the coolent been changed, fuel filters changed last.

Great write up on that link! I am totaly new to diesels aside from driving them at work. I have owned Toyota trucks and Mustangs my whole life. Is the degas bottle the coolant resivour on the top right looking at the motor? Here is the VIN on the truck if any of you guys have access to an Oasis report: 1FTSW21P95EA32244. Thanks again

Yes, the degas bottle is the coolant resivour. Your gonna need to start a new thread titles "Need oasis report please" to get a faster response. Please remember that the members on here getting the reports are doing this for free, so it might take a couple of days to get the report back.
