08 gate to 05?

guys i just picked up 08 tailgate with the step for my 05. i searched around and couldnt find the threads i had seen before about this. what else do i need to put this on my 05? im going to drop this gate at my friends for paint and didnt want to leave anything out. i heard i needed some sort of bracket and maybe some kind of lift assist. thanks

I think one hinge on the truck is differnt and you have to change it. i don't know i just got my 08 and up tailgate and its to cold to mess with plus i have to paint it yet

thanks alot guys that was a big help! just one more question though.... does the part from ford need painted? i dont want to paint the gat then have to paint a little part seperately. thanks

Ya it needs paint comes bare steel
